1. Operational Safety & Maintenance

Press machines generate the specified pressing force/pressure. To ensure operational safety, a leak-tight hydraulic system is required.

Due to natural wear and tear under frequent use, press machines must be regularly serviced by Viega authorised service partners.

It is recommended to check the following during each service: press jaws, press rings, press chains, and (hinged) adapter jaws, including:

Lubricating moving parts

Reworking/adjusting the pressing contours

Checking for damage and dimensional accuracy

2. Service Label

Press jaws and hinged adapter jaws will have a service sticker with a QR code, linking to maintenance and care instructions in the online catalogue.

3. Service Intervals – by Tool Model

Key tool lines:

• Pressgun 6 Plus / Pressgun Picco 6 Plus: available via the Viega Tool Services app or display after 40,000 pressings; safety shutdown after a further 2,000 pressings, or after 4 years at the latest (whichever occurs first).
• Pressgun 6 / Picco 6: display after 30,000 pressings; safety shutdown after a further 2,000 pressings, or after 4 years at the latest (whichever occurs first).
• Pressgun 6 B: at least every 2 years.
• Pressgun 5: display after 40,000 pressings; safety shutdown after a further 2,000 pressings or after 4 years at the latest (whichever occurs first).
• Pressgun Picco / Pressgun 4E & 4B: display after 30,000 pressings; safety shutdown after a further 2,000 pressings or after 4 years at the latest (whichever occurs first).
• PT3-AH, Picco, PT3-H/EH: LED display after 20,000 pressings; safety shutdown after a further 2,000 pressings or after 4 years at the latest (whichever occurs first).
• Type 2: at least every 2 years.
• Type 1: at least once a year.
• Press jaw/ring/chain/(hinged) adapter jaw: every 2 years.

4. Jaw/Ring/Chain Compatibility by Pressing Force

• Picco (24 kN): press jaws and rings compatible with Picco / Pressgun Picco, Picco 6, and Picco 6 Plus.
• PT2 (32 kN): press jaws, rings, and chains compatible with Type 2 (PT2), PT3-H, PT3-AH, PT3-EH, and Pressgun 4E/4B/5/6B/6/6 Plus.
