2. Working Pressure 

The Viega Megapress press connector system with SC-Contur enables immediate detection of unpressed connections during leakage testing. Viega guarantees the detection of unpressed connections within the following pressure ranges using water, compressed air or inert gases:

Test medium: Water

• Minimum pressure: 0.1 MPa (100 kPa / 1 bar / 14.5 PSI)
• Maximum pressure: 0.65 MPa (650 kPa / 6.5 bar / 94.3 PSI)

Test medium: Air (compressed air / inert gases)

• Minimum pressure: 22 hPa (2.2 kPa / 22 mbar / 0.3 PSI)
• Maximum pressure: 0.3 MPa (300 kPa / 3 bar / 43.5 PSI)

The Megapress system is designed for nominal pressure PN 16.

Size range: D⅜ – 2mm

Stated external diameters:

• OD 38.0 (DN32)
• OD 44.5 (DN40)
• OD 57.0 (DN50)

Size availability in accordance with national regulations.

4. Piping Applications

The Megapress press connector system is suitable for:

• Industrial and plant engineering
• Closed cooling and heating systems
• Compressed air systems
• Fire extinguishing systems (DIN 14462) wet (observe the required minimum and maximum wall thickness)
• Sprinkler systems (VdS CEA 4001) wet, wet/dry, dry (observe the required minimum and maximum wall thickness)
• Technical gas systems (on request)

Note: Use for applications/media other than those described must be agreed in consultation with Viega. The system is not suitable for fuel gases in accordance with DVGW Worksheet G 260 and potable water installations, as well as other open systems (exception: model 4213.2 approved for potable water).

5. Standards

Suitable for steel pipes in accordance with EN 10255, EN 10220 / EN 10216-1, EN 10220 / EN 10217-1.

For heating system use: observe VDI 2035 and DIN EN 12828.

Not suitable for fuel gases per DVGW G 260, potable water installations, and other open systems (exception: model 4213.2 approved for potable water).

6. Operating Temperature Conditions

The Megapress press connector system can be used under the following operating parameters:

• Heating systems in accordance with DIN EN 12828
• Maximum operating temperature: 105°C (221°F)
