2. Working Pressure

The Viega press connector system with SC-Contur enables detection of unpressed connections, as they become visibly leaky when the system is filled. Viega guarantees detection of unpressed connections within the following pressure ranges:

Test medium: Water

• Minimum pressure: 0.1 MPa (100 kPa / 1 bar / 14.5 PSI)
• Maximum pressure: 0.65 MPa (650 kPa / 6.5 bar / 94.3 PSI)

Test medium: Air

• Minimum pressure: 22 hPa (2.2 kPa / 22 mbar / 0.3 PSI)
• Maximum pressure: 0.3 MPa (300 kPa / 3 bar / 43.5 PSI)

The Sanpress press connector system is designed for nominal pressure PN 16.

The Sanpress press connector system is suitable for:

• Special application: Shipbuilding

Note: The system is suitable for potable water installations according to DIN 1988-200 and EN 806-2, considering material selection in accordance with DIN EN 12502-1 and the evaluation basis for metallic materials in contact with potable water issued by UBA (Germany). System components should be protected against high chloride concentrations originating from the medium and/or external factors. For use outside the described applications or if in doubt about correct material selection, please contact Viega.

5. Standards

Press connector system (press connectors and pipes) in accordance with DIN EN 10088, DIN EN 10312, DVGW Worksheet GW 541, and DVGW Worksheet W 534.

Pipe approval for material 1.4521 (d12–108.0): DW-7301BS0375.

Pipe approval for material 1.4401 (d12–108.0): DV-7301BS0411.

System approval for material 1.4521 (d12–108.0): DW-8501BS0377.

System approval for material 1.4401 (d12–108.0): DW-8501AP3032.

For heating system use: observe VDI 2035 and DIN EN 12828.

Press connector material note: press connectors are made of gunmetal or silicon bronze (material may change due to the current production switch to Viega’s globally standardised silicon bronze alloy).

6. Operating Temperature Conditions

The Sanpress press connector system can be used under the following operating parameters:

Potable water installations (DIN 1988-200 / DIN EN 806-2)

• Maximum operating temperature: 80°C (176°F)
• Permitted maximum: 95°C for 60 minutes

Heating systems (DIN EN 12828)

• Maximum operating temperature: 105°C (221°F)
