2. Press connector with SC‑Contur

The Viega press fitting system with the SC-Contur function enables immediate detection of unpressed connections during leak tightness / leakage testing. Viega ensures detection of unpressed connections within the following pressure ranges:

Test medium: Water

• Minimum pressure: 0.1 MPa (100 kPa / 1 bar / 14.5 PSI)
• Maximum pressure: 0.65 MPa (650 kPa / 6.5 bar / 94.3 PSI)

Test medium: Air

• Minimum pressure: 22 hPa (2.2 kPa / 22 mbar / 0.3 PSI)
• Maximum pressure: 0.3 MPa (300 kPa / 3 bar / 43.5 PSI)

In addition, the Profipress press fitting system is designed for nominal pressure PN 16.

3. Dimensions

A wide range of sizes is available with diameters from: 12 – 108.0 mm.
Available sizes may vary depending on national regulations.

4. Areas of application

The press fitting system is suitable for the following systems/piping applications:

• Potable water
• Heating/radiator connection
• Rainwater
• Compressed air, inert gases
• Cooling water pipelines
• Industrial applications
• Plant engineering
• Fire extinguishing systems (in accordance with DIN 14462) wet
• Sprinkler systems (in accordance with VdS CEA 4001) wet

Note: Use of the system for media/applications outside the above list requires Viega’s approval.

5. Standards

Press fittings are tested in accordance with DVGW W 534 and bear the DVGW approval mark.

Approved for d12 – 108.0 under registration number DVGW DW-8511BQ0586.

Press fittings are compatible with copper pipes in accordance with DIN EN 1057 (R290, hard, for sprinkler equipment) and DVGW GW 392.

For heating systems: comply with VDI 2035 and DIN EN 12828.

Drinking water applications: in accordance with DIN 1988-200 and EN 806-2, considering material selection per DIN EN 12502-1 and the evaluation basis for metallic materials in contact with drinking water issued by UBA (Germany).

Drinking water limitation related to copper ions (PWO): copper pipes/fittings may only be used when:

• pH ≥ 7.4, or
• TOC ≤ 1.5 mg/l at pH 7.0 – 7.4.

6. Operating Conditions

The Profipress press fitting system can be used under the following operating temperature conditions:

Drinking water systems (DIN 1988-200 / DIN EN 806-2)

• Maximum operating temperature: 80°C
• Permitted maximum: 95°C for 60 minutes

Heating systems (DIN EN 12828)

• Maximum operating temperature: 105°C
